Art Deco inspiration

I came across a lot of vintage looking charms for a new line of earrings and necklaces I want to make for my Etsy store. I am so delighted to get to work with materials that remind me of my passions: Architecture, decoration, jewelry and video games. I know you are thinking, “This is quite a weird combination!” Well well well it is. Indeed. ^^

Sleek forms and strongly affirmed geometry are the strongest elements of decoration in the Art Deco movement turning a very utilitarian trash bin into an element of the architectural landscape in the city.

In Bioshock, one of the most beautiful video game I got to play so far, the underwater city of Rapture has stunning detailed elements of the great inspiring Art Deco movement and the dull brassy look of the interiors and the buildings are so appealing to me I think I developed some kind of obsession for brass and antique gold!

So here it is, the first piece of a new collection of jewelry soon available in the store. A very sophisticated yet simple pair of dangling earrings perfect for a night out or a casual day.

A very merry unbirthday to you! To me?

My birthday is coming up, it is not quite here there yet but I can never pass on treating myself with a shopping spree when this time of the year comes around.

Treat #1:
An adorable liz clairbone leather wallet/clutch. I love that it has 3 different colors of leather, an interesting contrasting fabric and it smells so good.

The ideal summer dress

I’ve seen a lot of this kind fabric at the store, ready to sew and in different lengths but I never liked the styles. What about making your own? It is not as hard as it seems!

The tricky part is to deal with the elastic but the talented and generous lady at House on the hill road explains how to in a very detailed and clear tutorial here: Link
